Bismillah.
So after work i got an invitation to attend luncheon of 'marhaban'. I invite her to come along with me. So she carpool with me. We ate and ride back send her. Its in the middle of day and stucked in the traffic gives us time to talk. And she said..
Her: i love malay culture. So 'meriah' when having any events. So what this 'majlis' called eh? That baca-baca.?
Me: yeah,ouh.. This event just happen in hari raya or post dates of hari raya where we have this group of people like rhyming our ayat-ayat suci. We called it as 'marhaban'.
Her: oh okay. So you all muslims memang ada rules right? When i worked at singapore, mereka macam tunggang-langgang.
Me: (i laughed) What do you mean by tunggang-langgang?
Her: no lah, its like they all live macam tak ada agama. Majoriti of muslims there tak macam muslim dekat malaysia. Only family yang kuat agama yang ikut. They all got tattoos and pakai baju tak tutup aurat. Bukan ke muslim dah ada rules apa kena buat. So i don't understand why they all tak ikut.
Me: ouh. Its not really rules. But in our kitab, Al-Quran dah stated what we have to do. I mean guidance. And its not really rules, dalam Islam tak ada paksaan. Yang ada is, dosa and pahala. Hukum: wajib, haram and makruh. Kalau buat yang wajib or something yang baik, dapatlah pahala. Kalau tak dapat dosa. And we have what we called 'makruh'. Makruh is un between pahala and dosa. Kalau buat tak dapat apa-apa, kalau tak buat pun sama but our God said kalau boleh jauhi yang makruh itu sebab ia something yang ragu-ragu.
Her: oh. I rasa who born as a muslim is very lucky. Not like us indian and chinese yang tak tentu arah ni.
Me: what do you mean by that?
Her: yelah. Hindu ni, ikut suka hati nak buat apa. I mean tak ada paksaan. Memang ada sembahyang and all, tapi you nak sembahyang ke tak, its up to you. Kalau muslim ada sembahyang 5 times right? And i ingat dulu time sekolah, where got one person baca doa and we all keep quiet. I respect the muslim yang ikut cara muslim. Kalau i jadi muslim, memang i rasa beruntung sangat sebab you all got guidance. What to do this and that. So i don't understand why some people tak ikut cara yang sebenar.
Me: (starstrucked but keep it cool inside) thats why we have to approach them nicely. Not turn on by emotion. Bukan setakat agama lain, but even in muslim. Why they do crazy thing? Kenapa nak hina agama orang? In Islam, we are not allowed to hina agama orang. We have to respect their religion and culture. Actually after knowing other religion, agama kita semua basically suruh benda yang sama. Buat benda baik, jangan buat bad things. The difference is in terms of God. We are not encouraged to ignites api permusuhan. Some of them yang extreme will do that. That means mereka dah salah tafsir. Not to say i'm good in my religion, i'm still learning. But there's some stuff that i questioned of people doing's.
Her: mine as well. I hope you keep like this, i like the way you talk about Islam.
Me: InsyaAllah. Thats why i like to know about other religion, buatkan i lagi kukuh and pegang kuat dengan Islam. But tulah, ada orang yang salah faham bila i nak tahu pasal agama lain. Bukannya nak jadi apa, just as knowledge and i think its good to know as long as you hold to your religion.
Her: its okay. They don't know your intention kan. For me, i agree with you.
After send her back, i was thinking. Oh Allah.. Is this my jihad?? I never thought chit-chat like this makes another person with different religion will said something like this.
